Lesson 2 : The Quarrel(Poem)

Answer the following 

i)Who is the poet of the poem 'The Quarrel'?

Ans- Eleanor Farjeon is the poet of the poem 'The Quarrel'.

ii) Whom did the sister quarrel with?

Ans- The Sister quarrel with his brother.

iii) What was the reason of the quarrel?

Ans- The reason of the quarrel was unknown.

4) What did the brother say at first?

Ans- The brother said at first that he was right.

v) Why did the brother say that the afternoon turned black?

Ans- By saying that the afternoon turned black the brotherwanted to mean that the situation became worse and they should be easy now.

6)How did the quarrel come to an end?

Ans: When the brother came and patted his sister's back lovingly and admitted that he was at falt the quarrel came to end.

Summary: One day a sister quarrelled with her brother but the reason was unknown. They shoute at each other. The quarral was mild at first. But it become strong in the end. Both claimed that they were right. They bgan to hate each other. They did n't talk to each other till evening. The poet says that as they stopped talking to each other. the afternoon became gloomy and it seemed darker than ever. Then suddenly the brother decided to make up with his sister. He walked up to her and patted her on her back. He suggested that they should patch up. He admitted that he was at fault. Thus he did the right thing to develop an amicable relationship.

slight - very small in amount

hated - strongly disliked

afternoon turned black - the afternoon became gloomy because of the quarrel

thump - to hit someone and make a loud deep sound
