Gandhi could understand his father's love towards him. He felt perfect forgiveness. that is why, Gandhi called the incident an object lesson in 'Ahimsa'.

Ans: In this lesson we get to know about certain great features of Gandhi's character. First , though he stole gold he could not bear the guilt which shows his quality of recognising the right path.Secondly he was courageous enough to confess his guilt instead of hiding it and committing it again. Thirdly, he had huge love and  respect for his father and he could understand his father's agony.
